Brides of Dracula by ShawnVanBriesen Brides of Dracula by ShawnVanBriesen
Dracula 1931 vampire-horror film directed by Tod Browning and starring Béla Lugosi as the title character. The film was produced by Universal and is based on the stage play of the same name by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston, which is based on the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker.

I always wondered what happened to the original brides after Dracula went to his Carfax Abbey condo in England. I believe there is a story there...

Not exactly the finest rendition but it may answer your question about the wives ... [link]

I thought there were still at the Castle when Dracula made his bid for home under rather heavy pressure from his pursuers. In the book, among other things, Dracula finds out the hard way about the rather horrific abilities of an American Bowie knife.

Draping's hard, yours is very good.

Apparently, they filed for divorce shortly afterwards.

The tight rendering on the Brides looks great with the loose background inking.

This is one caused me no end of problems. I was happy with how it turned it out in the end.

In this lovely drawing the brides are rather demure. I am reminded of the contract with the Coppolla version-- rather Playboy-mansion-style.

Terrific inking and "poise" as well as groundedness ( awareness of gravity) in this image.

Thanks, Norman. I go back and forth on the Coppala version. There are parts of it I really like. I do the like in camera effects. Then there's Keanu Reeves...

Yes--Reeves is a continuous disaster . . .

I suppose I like the "sound-stage" qualities of the picture-- more like an old, silent movie.

Thanks for the colloquy . . .

Very cool rendition. These chick are such downers. Now the vampire wives in the Spanish version of Dracula are a bit more "lively". I would love to see a piece with those gals.

You know, I've never actually sat down watched the Spanish version beginning to end. I have the Blu Ray's coming next week and the Spanish version is included. I'll have to do that.
